While the world braced for their investments to nosedive because of President Donald Trump's tariffs, the Oval Office resident went golfing. And lots of people were asking questions about it.
Trump shared a video of himself playing in the Senior Club Championship at his Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida, saying, "It's good to win."
While he was celebrating a golf victory, the New York Times described his weekend as a "double-header" with a "Saudi-backed golf tournament at his family’s Miami resort and a weekend of fund-raisers attracting hundreds of donors to his Palm Beach club."
Trump took a military chopper to his club as his tariffs against Canada, Mexico, China and many other countries 'erased $5 trillion in market value from companies in the S&P 500 in just two days,' the Times added.
While Trump played another game of golf at Trump International Golf Club, not far from Mar-a-Lago, he took the time to write on social media, “THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO GET RICH, RICHER THAN EVER BEFORE.”
Laura Loomer posted a photo of Trump receiving the award, highlighting his golfing activities amid global criticism.
Critics quickly condemned Trump for prioritizing golf over addressing world conflicts and economic crises.
Meet the Press host Chuck Todd wrote on X, “Just astonishingly tone deaf. Crater the world economy then spend the weekend golfing against Washington General-like competitors. Seems fairly clear he’s not interested in running for any office again.”
Other X users circulated an image of Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt bragging about his golf win with Trump edited to look like Kim Jong Un. The caption reads, “Dear Leader won his second round matchup of the Senior Club Championship.”
