Shocking new footage released by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) shows local police and Secret Service agents standing over the body of Thomas Matthew Crooks as they worked to identify the shooter who attempted to assassinate former President Trump.
The following content is graphic.
The body cam video released by the senator shows the lifeless body of Crooks with a trail of blood along the roof where he shot, wounding former President Trump and two others, and killing one.
One man who appears to be a Secret Service agent can be seen talking with a Beaver County Emergency Service Unit officer in the video. The agent tells the officer that Crooks’ body appeared to be the suspicious person who was previously reported to them.
“So this is the guy,” the agent says.
“This is him,” the Beaver County officer replies.
The officer goes on to say that a police sniper took photos of Crooks, including him on a bicycle.
“That’s the sniper that sent the original picture and seen him come from the bike and set the bookbag down and then lost sight of him,” the officer says to the agent.
The footage then shows two law enforcement officials scrolling through photos of the suspicious target on an iPhone.
The shooting has sparked controversy for the Secret Service and those working to protect the former president at the event. After a congressional hearing this week, the head of the Secret Service, director Kim Cheatle, resigned from the post.
Federal investigations into the shooting remain ongoing at this point.
