A 31-year-old Illinois woman is facing a number of charges after she reportedly dragged her boyfriend across a parking lot with her car and intentionally crashed into bystanders' vehicles.
The chaotic incident erupted on Sunday at a Forest Park gas station, just west of Chicago, where Kendra Nance and her boyfriend stopped after experiencing car trouble, according to police.
While in the gas station parking lot, the couple got into an argument which drew the attention of other customers nearby.
"Customers at the gas station began to interact with the two and a verbal dispute erupted between the couple and the customers. The customers and the female and her boyfriend continued their verbal exchange and taunts back and forth as an onlooker video recorded the incident," Forest Park police said in a statement.
According to police, one of the customers then threw an object at the couple's vehicle. Nance's boyfriend got out of the car and she hopped into the driver's seat "with the verbal tirade continuing between all of the parties involved," police said.
Although the boyfriend opened the door and tried to stop her from driving, Nance took off anyway, dragging him across the parking lot before "purposely" crashing into parked vehicles of the party she was arguing with, according to police.
But the destruction didn't end there. Nance then took off at a high rate of speed and was almost immediately involved in a rollover crash.
The entire incident was caught on video obtained by WMAQ-TV.
"Her boyfriend remained in the [gas station] parking lot and was still engaged in a verbal and physical altercation with the now victims," police said.
Nance and her boyfriend ran off before police arrived, but officers eventually caught up with them and took them to a nearby hospital to be treated.
Nance was arrested and is now facing felony charges of criminal damage to property, two counts of aggravated assault, reckless driving, reckless conduct, and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision, according to WMAQ. Bail was set at $200,000.
