A Louisiana teacher is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to a disturbing array of sex crimes.

Among the list of offenses Cynthia Perkins, 36, was convicted of is a charge of mingling of harmful substances, which was levied after she admitted to lacing cupcakes for her students at Westside Junior High School in Livingston, La., with her then-husband’s ejaculate.

Perkins also pled guilty to second-degree rape and child pornography charges, among other sex crimes.

“She not only waived any right to appeal, and attempt to avoid conviction, but she also spared the victims from reliving her horrific crimes during this particular trial,” Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry said in a statement.

Perkins was arrested in 2019 along with her now-ex-husband Dennis Perkins, a Livingston Parish sheriff’s deputy at the time of his arrest, on charges that included over 150 sex crimes.

Under her plea deal, Cynthia will have 68 of those charges dismissed and will be required to testify against Dennis, who she has alleged manipulated her into breaking the law. Cynthia filed for divorce after her arrest.

Police initially arrested the Perkinses when they acted on a tip left at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

A search later turned up nude photos of the couple with the minor they are accused of abusing.

“It is a sad day for us, for all law enforcement officers, when you arrest one of your own. We at the LPSO work hard everyday to retain the trust placed in us by our citizens,” the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a statement at the time of Dennis Perkins’s arrest. He is scheduled to be tried in May on all 150 original charges.

Cynthia Perkins is expected to receive a 41-year prison sentence on Friday.
