LEWISVILLE (1080 KRLD)- Police reveal chilling details about a deadly workplace shooting in Lewisville last week.
Police say Travis Merrill was obsessed with his co-worker and angry about the lengths of the breaks that the victim took and those were his motives for killing his co-worker.
According to investigators, Merrill shot Tamhara Collazo at her cubicle at Allegiance Trucks, in front of coworkers, after she came back from a lunch break. Merrill told investigators he had been plotting the attack for a while.
He is charged with murder and currently in jail with a $10 million bond.
Merrill confessed to the shooting, police said, admitting that he was "obsessed with Collazo and became increasingly angry" over "unauthorized long breaks" and her "not paying any attention" to him.
Collazo obviously noted his obsession as she reported Merrill to the administration and said she didn't want him watching when she took her breaks, according to the report. Merrill was reportedly required to speak with a counselor before he could return to work.
Before he went back to the office, Merrill bought guns and "practiced his movements with them" at home, he told detectives.
WFAA reported he said she "had caused him pain, and he wanted her to feel pain, so he intentionally planned to shoot her at work with everyone there," according to the affidavit.
The day before the shooting, he allegedly brought the guns to work but "It didn't feel like the right time."
On the day of the shooting, Merrill allegedly admitted that he followed Collazo out to the parking lot during lunch break and watched her sit in her car while he got his guns ready in his vehicle, according to the affidavit.
