Well that’s one way to know how people really feel about you. A man in Belgium faked his own death and then showed up to his own funeral.

The prank was pulled off by man on TikTok, David Baerten, his wife and children to see who cared about him.

“Rest in peace, Daddy. I will never stop thinking about you,” the daughter wrote, according to the Times UK, Via the New York Post. “Why is life so unfair? Why you? You were going to be a grandfather, and you still had your whole life ahead of you. I love you! We love you! We will never forget you.”

A fake funeral was then held over the weekend with friends and family in attendance.

A video posted, shows a black helicopter landing close to where the funeral was to take place. When some people realize it’s him, they run into the field to embrace him.

Some people were upset by the prank, but Baerten said he didn’t like how he was being treated by some of his friends and family lately.

“That’s why I wanted to give them a life lesson and show them that you shouldn’t wait until someone is dead to meet up with them,” said Baerten.
