Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, is in the crosshairs of federal prosecutors as they look into his overseas business dealings, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.

The prosecution, based in Delaware, is investigating Biden’s well-known business relationship with Burisma Holdings Ltd., a natural gas company in Ukraine. In play if the investigation pans out: possible violations of rules regarding foreign lobbying and money laundering.

Biden spent five years on the board at Burisma from 2014 to 2019, receiving compensation totaling about $50,000 per month. It was that paid position with Burisma that prompted then-President Donald Trump to try to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to have his government investigate Hunter Biden in exchange for various assets American had already promised Ukraine, a conversation that would lead to Trump’s first of two impeachments.

Biden’s Ukrainian connection is only one of the threads though that prosecutors are tracing, as they are also reportedly investigating his dealings in other countries, including China and Kazakhstan.

The Wall Street Journal also reported that one of Biden’s associates had already been questioned and was asked about Biden’s mental state in 2018 as well as his drug and alcohol usage.
