A manufacturer of cups and bottles meant for babies has issued a product recall because their wares might poison your child.

Green Sprouts, a company that makes a number of reusable baby products, issued a voluntary recall last week that affects about 10,500 units across three different products: the Green Sprouts 6 oz. Stainless Steel Sippy Cup, the Sip & Straw Cup, and the 8 oz. Stainless Steel Straw Bottle.

According to the company, it has been found that the bottom base of these three different products could break off.

If that happens, a solder dot containing lead becomes exposed. Lead is a toxic metal if ingested.

The products are sold at chain retailers including Whole Foods and Bed Bath & Beyond.

“Testing of this component was omitted by the CPSC-approved third party lab because this part of the product is inaccessible under normal use,” the company said on its website. “As we approach the redesign of these products, whose benefits for keeping drinks cold safely have made them a popular choice for parents, we will ensure that lead is not used as a soldering material.”

The tracking codes printed on the bottom of the recalled items are 29218V06985, 35719V06985 and 33020V06985. They were sold between January 2020 and September of this year.
