You may not know this, but the fashion industry is the second-highest polluting industry in the world, producing 150 billion garments a year.
Nearly 90% of that, or 40 million tons, ends up in landfills, but one company is looking to make an impact.
The apparel brand Storm Creek, a company that’s turned more than 24 million plastic bottles into eco-friendly outerwear, is looking to help make the environment safer, and you more stylish.
The CEO of the company, Teresa Sundenberg, says that by using plastic bottles, they’ve been able to make a dent in their carbon emissions.
“The process of using the plastic bottles in creating these garments actually generates 79-80% less carbon emission than the regular virgin polyester process,” Sundenberg said.
The products are sold online but there is a special pop up store today, along with an earth day festival at their headquarters in Eagan.
