During his Fox News town hall in Iowa on Wednesday, former President Donald Trump suggested who he could pick to be on the ticket with him in 2024 if he wins the GOP nomination.
“Well, I can’t tell you that, really. I mean, I know who it’s going to be,” Trump said when asked who he is considering picking.
When asked if he would pick any of those who ran a campaign against him for the GOP nominee, Trump said he wouldn’t count anyone out, even Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
“I’ve already started to like Christie better,” Trump said.
Trump is still the leader amongst Republicans according to every poll, with former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis trailing.
The Hill/Decision Desk HQ poll averages show Trump is leading his rivals by 53 percentage points in national surveys, 36 points in Iowa, and 11 points in New Hampshire.
Among the potential VP picks he’s previously said he would consider are several female conservatives, including South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.
In fact, Trump allies have pushed for the former president to find a female running mate, with Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R), Haley, and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) all being brought up as potential candidates.
NBC News reported after the town hall that a Trump campaign adviser clarified nothing has been finalized at this time.
“He’ll announce his final pick when he’s ready to,” the adviser said.
