Former President Donald Trump is narrowly beating President Joe Biden in yet another poll considering a 2024 hypothetical match-up.
According to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll, which surveyed 1,584 adults, Trump has a slight edge over the sitting president -- leading Biden 44% to 42%.
However, the poll also found 9% of respondents were unsure who they would vote for, and another 5% said they were not planning to vote.
At nearly 81-years-old, Biden is the oldest sitting president in U.S. history -- and his age is a sticking point for voters. According to the poll, a full 80% say Biden's age is at least a small problem, while 55% say it's a large problem.
The poll also shows that 54% of Americans think Biden no longer has "the competence to carry out the job of president," and 64% say they're somewhat or very concerned about his "health and mental acuity." Less than a third of Americans (31%) still think Biden is competent.
Meanwhile, more Americans say Trump is "fit to be president" (38%) than say the same about Biden (24%).
Trump, at 77, is only three and a half years Biden's junior and the second oldest president in history -- but his age doesn't seem to hold as much weight with voters. The poll shows 43% of Americans say Trump has the competence to carry out the job of president, and less than half (44%) are concerned about his health and mental acuity.
As for their respective times in the Oval Office, 58% of Americans say Trump was mostly in charge, versus just 19% who say he was mostly passive, according to the poll. On the other hand, 28% of Americans say Biden has been mostly in charge while 54% say he's been mostly passive. Additionally, 39% of Americans think Trump accomplished a lot as president vs. just 24% who said the same for Biden.
At the same time, Trump's legal issue could cause problems for his presidential aspirations; he's currently facing a total of 91 felony counts across four separate criminal cases. When it comes to Trumps fitness for the presidency, the poll shows 66% of Americans think his criminal charges are a problem -- including 91% of Democrats, 40% of Republicans and 68% of Independents.
