Is a current president by any other name still the president? Social media users were left befuddled when President Donald J. Trump (correct name) signed a post on his own platform Truth Social as DONAKD J. TRUMP (an incorrect name, for those of us keeping score.)

The message thanked B-2 pilots for their service, but it was lost in the throng of people commenting on the misspelling. As Yahoo News pointed out, Trump deleted the misspelled message and replaced it, but it had already been captured on screens. See it here.

Yahoo News added "Trump has a long and colorful history of typo-ridden social media posts, including the infamous “covfefe” message of 2017, along with his references to a “stollen” election, “Wirch Hunt,” and “hamberders.” He once wrote his wife Melania's name as Melanie.

Overall, it' s unclear if Trump typed the message himself, as a former aide testified that he preferred to dictate his messages.

Critics took the opportunity to call out Trump for the typo, questioning his attention to detail and readiness for decision-making, especially in matters of war. Rep. Melanie Stansbury of New Mexico wrote on X, "This is the man calling for regime change and with his hand on the nuclear codes, marching us into war: DONAKD J. TRUMP.  To my Republican colleagues with the power and numbers to stop this, what say you?" Others added on X that if Joe Biden misspelled his own name in a post, FOX News and GOP leaders would make it a highlight of the news cycle.

The typo was especially unfortunate considering that Vice President JD Vance had just assuredly told Americans that the different between Trump approving the bombing of Iran's nuclear sites this weekend and past actions of international attacks were the difference between having a smart president and a dumb one.

"I empathize with Americans who are exhausted after 25 years of foreign entanglements in the Middle East," he said. "I understand the concern, but the difference is that back then we had dumb presidents and now we have a president who actually knows how to accomplish America's national security objectives."

We can assume he was referencing Donald J. Trump as the superior intellect in office and not a man named Donakd J. Trump.
