Former President Donald Trump offered his thanks for Brittany Mahomes on Wednesday for “so strongly defending me” after she liked a post on Instagram from the GOP nominee last month.

Trump took to Truth Social to offer his thanks for the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes on the eve of the new NFL season.

“I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Brittany Mahomes faced criticism in August after some noticed that she liked the former president’s post titled “The 2024 GOP Platform.”

Featured in the post was a list of 20 issues a potential second Trump administration would prioritize, including “ending” inflation and the “largest deportation operation in American history.”

In his Truth Social post, Trump went on to mention several of the same issues, saying he would offer an answer to the country’s problems.

“With Crime and Illegal Immigration totally out of control, INFLATION Ravaging all Americans, and a World that is laughing at the stupidity of our hapless ‘leaders,’ it is nice to see someone who loves our Country, and wants to save it from DOOM,” he added. “What a great couple – See you both at the Super Bowl!”

While Brittany Mahomes has since removed her like of the post, she has also liked comments on posts promoting “Trump-Vance 2024.”

However, she has not openly supported the former president, though she did respond to the criticism she received on her own Instagram post last month.

“I mean honestly, to be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood,” Mahomes wrote on the platform. “There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”

As for the former league MVP, he shared with Time magazine in a recent interview that he doesn’t want to influence someone’s vote, which is why he didn’t publicly endorse a candidate in 2020.

“I don’t want to pressure anyone to vote for a certain president,” Mahomes told the magazine in April. “I want people to use their voice, whoever they believe in. I want them to do the research.”
