It seems former President Donald Trump’s initial plan for retaining the power of the Presidency in the wake of his 2020 election loss was simply not to leave 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, according to Georgia prosecutors.

Jenna Ellis, a former attorney on the Trump legal team, told Fulton County authorities in a confidential interview that Trump was “not going to leave” the White House, quoting former Trump senior White House official Dan Scavino as the information’s source.

She also said Trump personally told her, “We are just going to stay in power.”

Ellis said she responded, “Well it doesn’t quite work that way,” and that Trump’s response to that was simply, “We don’t care.”

The interview with Georgia state prosecutors was conducted as part of the state’s racketeering case against Trump and 17 alleged co-conspirators.

Video of the interview was obtained by ABC News.
