“We’re back,” said former Fox host Tucker Carlson in a video posted to Twitter late Thursday afternoon.

Although Fox News’ ratings have struggled since it parted ways with the well-known host late last month (a surprise Twitter video he posted even got more views than the network one Wednesday night), he isn’t going “back” to Fox.

He’s moving to Twitter.

“There aren’t many platforms left that allow free speech,” said Carlson in the Tuesday video. ‘The last big one remaining – in the world, the only one – is Twitter.”

He said that he is working to bring a new version of his former Fox show “Tucker Carlson Tonight” to the social media platform. Billionaire Elon Musk – known as the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX – purchased Twitter late last year and has since made headlines for controversial decisions, such as reinstating former Republican President Donald Trump’s account and charging for verification checkmarks.

In his video, Carlson put forth a message that conventional media outlets lie.

“Facts have been withheld on purpose, along with proportion and perspective. You are being manipulated,” he said.

In recent months, texts from Carlson have surfaced, including some that indicated he did not believe some of the things the Fox network was airing related to 2020 presidential election fraud claims. Other text messages appear to show Carlson making racist remarks. These have been linked to his separation with Fox.

“Free speech is the main right that you have,” said Carlson, who some have speculated might make a presidential run, in his Tuesday video. “Without it you have no others.”

He said that more information is coming regarding how to watch his show. In less than three hours, the video had more than 4 million views, and more than 280,000 likes.
