PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police in South Jersey are trying to identify a woman who breached the tiger enclosure at a Cumberland County zoo and put her hand through the wire fence.
The Bridgeton Police Department shared a video of the incident on Tuesday. The woman is seen climbing over the wooden fence of the tiger enclosure at the Cohanzick Zoo in Bridgeton and putting her hand through the next barrier — a wire fence.
Police said the woman began enticing the 7-year-old Bengal Tiger named Mahisha — and she was almost bitten. The woman then hopped back over the wooden fence.
John Medica is a spokesperson for the zoo. He says if the tiger would have bitten her, it could have been euthanized.
Police said the stunt was not only dangerous but illegal. Climbing over any fence at the zoo is a violation of the city ordinance.
Anyone with information about the woman is asked to call Bridgeton police at 856-451-0033, Ext. 0.
