WATCH: 13-year-old duct taped to airline seat after fighting with mom, kicking window

Yet another airplane passenger has been restrained by flight attendants with duct tape, this time a 13-year-old boy on a flight from Maui, Hawaii to Los Angeles, Calif.

According to report by CBS Los Angeles, the boy became belligerent around one hour into his trip on American Airlines Flight 212 Tuesday, attempting to kick out the window next to his seat and “becoming physical with his own mother.”

Video obtained by the outlet shows other passengers attempting to restrain the young teen and a male flight attendant walking up the aisle with a roll of duct tape.

The flight departed from Kahului Airport in Maui at 12:30 p.m., according to FlightAware. It was diverted to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport Honolulu, Hawaii, at around 3:47 p.m. due to the disturbance and did the plane did not reach Los Angeles International Airport until 9:07 p.m.

When passengers landed in Honolulu, passengers were re-accommodated on other flights and offered hotel rooms, said an American Airlines statement obtained by CBS. Additionally, the 13-year-old was taken into custody in Honolulu, according to the outlet.

American Airlines spokesperson Laura Masvidal declined to provide details about the child, his family and the incident, said the New York Post.

This incident is the third case of an airline passenger being restrained with duct tape to gain national media coverage in recent months.

In July, a woman on an American Airlines flight from Dallas Fort-Worth in Texas to Charlotte, N.C. was duct taped to her seat after attempting to open an airplane door mid-flight. Around a week ago, 22-year-old Maxwell Berry was duct taped to a Frontier Airlines flight from Philadelphia, Penn. To Miami, Fla. after groping flight attendants.

Berry’s incident inspired a viral comedy video from The Real Spark, a comedian who performs as a flight attendant dealing with unruly customers, said TMZ.
