Woman arrested for allegedly urinating on grocery store food

Authorities believe that an online content creator has been contaminating various locations in her community with urine for years. They began to unravel the story this month.

An anonymous person contacted the Keene Police Department in New Hampshire on Feb. 14 and told them that 23-year-old Kelli Tedford had posted disturbing videos on the internet. According to the Keene police, Tedford recorded herself contaminating items in a local business with her urine in one of the videos.

“Subsequently, an investigation into this report was conducted by the Keene Police Department with the cooperation of the local business, the Monadnock Food Co-Op,” said a press release from the agency.

Once alerted about the issue, the Co-Op immediately removed the product and issued a recall. In the recall notice, the business said that the incident occurred Feb. 10 and that store video was used to identify what was contaminated, said a recall notice. Surfaces in the store were also sanitized. Overall, the store lost an estimated $1,500 due to destroyed merchandise and cleaning costs.

“No fresh produce, meat, seafood, prepared foods or refrigerated products were affected,” said Monadnock. Items included in the recall are: Organic Red Quinoa PLU 364, Organic White Quinoa PLU 301, Organic Tri-Color Quinoa PLU 312, Organic Cornmeal PLU 308, Organic Polenta PLU 310, Organic Coconut Shreds PLU 403 and Raw Walnuts PLU 160 purchased between Feb. 10 and Feb. 15 from the Co-Op’s bulk department.

We ask that you dispose of the product purchased and come to the store for a refund. For additional questions, please contact customers@monadnockfood.coop,” the store said. Now, it is also reviewing its security measures to prevent another incident from occurring and it is working with both the police and the Keene Health Department.

During the investigation into Tedford’s alleged actions at Monadnock, police found “numerous additional videos of Tedford,” and determined that “it appears likely that similar historic incidents occurred in Keene and surrounding communities where Tedford contaminated items and/or surfaces with urine.” They said these videos appear to have been recorded as early as 2021.

Tedford was arrested Feb. 15 by the Keene Police Department and charged with Criminal Mischief, a class B felony. Authorities said additional charges are possible. As of Feb. 21, Tedford had been released on personal recognizance bail. She is scheduled for an April 7 arraignment in the 8th Circuit Court in Keene.

“Anyone who witnessed suspicious incidents involving Tedford, or who purchased a possibly contaminated item, is encouraged to contact Detective Don Lundin of the Keene Police Department at (603) 357-9813,” said police.

Unfortunately, this is not the only time someone has been arrested for contaminating things with their own urine.

Audacy has reported on multiple similar incidents over the years, including: the 2023 arrest of a Louisiana water plant worker after he was caught on camera urinating into the Ascension Parish water supply; a 2022 incident in Denton Texas, where a man caused “extreme damage to the City Manager’s Office,” that included urine and feces; another 2022 incident in Houston, Texas, where a janitor who faced charges after he was caught on camera dunking his penis and urinating into an employee’s water bottle and yet another incident where an Arby’s employee was accused of urinating into milkshake mix that was served to between 30 and 40 people.
