PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Andrew McCutchen stopped by The Ramon Foster Show to help celebrate Paul Zeise’s birthday on Tuesday, and to talk about his upcoming week of giving back to the city of Pittsburgh.

The former Pittsburgh Pirate and his wife, Maria, are hosting Project Pittsburgh Week centered on volunteerism in Pittsburgh.

The week is designed to highlight non-profits in the area that help the underprivileged and disadvantaged in the city, while teaching the community the importance of giving back.

“Any athlete I’ve ever talked that’s been a part of this city, they realize that it’s more than sports here. It’s about the interaction that you have with the fans…when I was here, a lot of people got to know me personally, and I got to know them too,” McCutchen said. “And knowing how great the people are here in Pittsburgh, knowing that they are going to want to come, they’re going to want to volunteer, they want to sign up, they want to help anyway they can. I’m excited for the weekend. I’m looking forward to the whole thing.”

Cutch Charity Week will be held from November 16th through the 23rd, and will feature charity work that the former MVP has relationships with—including UMPC Children’s Hospital and Light of Mission.

“There’s a lot going on, but it’s going to be a lot of fun too.”

While the majority of volunteer opportunities are already filled up, there are some spots still available with 412 Food Rescue, as well as the option to donate money and goods.
