(WWJ) The Michigan State House and Senate offices will be closed down Monday due to 'security concerns'—the day 16 electors are slated to cast their votes for President-Elect Joe Biden.

State Senator, Dayna Polehanki (D-Livonia), wrote on Twitter that the Michigan State Capitol and all government buildings in Lansing will be shuttered, with plans to reopen on Tuesday. All people who work in those buildings must conduct business off-site Monday, according to State Rep. Polehanki.

The electors are still planning to meet in the senate chamber at 2 p.m. Monday, but everyone else will work from home.

FOX-17 reports a spokesperson for the Michigan House said the decision to close the offices was not made by Michigan State Police. Rather, leaders within the legislature made the call to “ensure everyone’s safety.”

No further details were revealed about the nature of the security concerns.
