The University of Michigan has received $33,000,000 in federal funding so researchers can continue to develop the most powerful laser in the country. Lead researcher Dr. Yong Ma says the ZEUS Laser at U of M contains so much power it can split the air apart, and can recreate the physics that occurs at the edge of black holes and the surfaces of neutron stars to help scientists better understand the universe. Its capabilities also have both medical and national security applications. He spoke live with WWJ's Christina McDaniel. (PHOTO: Marcin Szczepanski, University of Michigan Engineering).
