You want moon shots? A home run derby at Coors Field is probably the place for you, then.

And that's reportedly the case for the 2021 MLB All-Star festivities, with multiple reports saying that the league has decided upon Denver, Colorado as the host city after taking it out of Georgia. The decision not to host the game in Atlanta came on April 2 and stemmed from a law that was passed which restricted voting by mail, gave "greater legislative control" on how elections are handled, and prohibits volunteers from giving food and water to voters waiting in line (via ESPN's Jeff Passan).

Among the reporters who said that Coors Field would be the new host of the All-Star Game were Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post and ESPN's Buster Olney.

Coors Field has only played host to the All-Star Game once before, in 1998, when the American League won a high-scoring contest by a score of 13-8. Ken Griffey Jr. won the Home Run Derby with 19 bombs through three rounds, a total that would be very disappointing given the numbers from recent years. For instance, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a casual 29 home runs in the first round, breaking the record for a single round, before he and Joc Pederson combined for 79 home runs in the semifinals.

And we have to think that if the All-Star Game is moved there, the new-format Home Run Derby would take its usual spot ahead of it, making for a pretty extraordinary showing.
