Giants pitchers Camilo Doval and Alex Cobb each played a role in the National League’s first All-Star Game victory since 2012.

On Tuesday night, Doval earned the victory after flashing his triple-digit heater in the scoreless seventh, while Cobb didn’t allow a run during his appearance in the fourth inning.

After the game, Cobb made a bold declaration about his former Angels teammate Shohei Ohtani, who is set to be a free agent this winter. In a postgame interview with the San Francisco Chronicle’s John Shea, Cobb made a bold declaration about the two-way Japanese star.

“He’s coming to San Francisco,” Cobb told Shea.

Cobb and Ohtani played together for one season in 2021 with the Angels. On Tuesday night, Cobb actually walked Ohtani to lead off his appearance, but called it the most memorable at-bat of his experience.

“[He’s] a showman,” Cobb said. “He’s made for the spotlight. I’ve seen him put a ball in the third deck here as a teammate. I didn’t want to see it from the mound.”

The Giants have whiffed on big stars like Giancarlo Stanton, Bryce Harper and Carlos Correa in recent years but all eyes are on Ohtani in 2023.

Doval retired Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker on a fly ball before striking out Mariners star outfielder Juilo Rodriguez.

Doval gave up a double to Indians infielder Jose Ramirez but was able to get Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman to fly out. Once Elias Diaz delivered the game-winning homer in the top of the eighth, Doval was awarded the victory, becoming the NL’s first winning pitcher since Matt Cain.
