(670 The Score) The Bulls have their backup center lined up for the upcoming season.

Veteran center Andre Drummond has exercised his $3.36-million player option to return to the Bulls for the 2023-’24 season, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported Thursday afternoon. Drummond would’ve hit the free-agent market Friday if he didn’t pick up the option.

Drummond, who will turn 30 in August, averaged 6.0 points and 6.6 rebounds in 12.7 minutes across 67 games for Chicago last season. He’ll continue to back up starting center Nikola Vucevic, who recently reached a three-year, $60-million deal with the team.

NBA free agency begins Friday evening.
