Andre Iguodala continues to play coy about his possible retirement.
Before coming back for his 19th NBA season in 2022, Iguodala publicly told Steph Curry on his podcast that it’d be his “last one.” But Iguodala also tried to add some intrigue to the situation with recent cryptic comments on Point Forward and hinted how he’d like to be the narrator of his retirement, not others.
In sly Iguodala fashion, he dropped his latest nugget in the latest Point Forward episode with WNBA legend Sue Bird, who recently had her jersey retired by the Seattle Storm. At the end of the clip, Iguodala jokes that he’d like a nice seat for retirement to put his feet up.
Iguodala only played in eight games last season, but the Warriors would probably argue he didn’t burn a roster spot, as he was immensely important to the locker room. The 39-year-old body doesn’t appear to be ready to handle the NBA grind as he has dealt with knee, hip, back and wrist issues the past couple seasons and severely limited his availability.
Just last week, Iguodala was announced as an investor in the newly-formed Bay FC soccer franchise which is slated to debut in 2024 in the National Women’s Soccer League (NSWL), the top flight in the country.
Iguodala has an entrepreneurial spirit with his own media company and fingerprints in a lot of investments, so he is set up to thrive in his post-playing career.
