CYPRESS, Calif. (KNX) — A two-year-old colt died Wednesday after suffering an injury during a training exercise at Los Alamitos Race Course. It’s the third death to occur at the Cypress track in five days.

"See You At Front sustained an injury while galloping this morning, requiring euthanasia," Mike Marten, a public information officer for the California Horse Racing Board, told City News Service on Wednesday.

The colt had not yet been raced. He is the fifth horse to die at Los Alamitos this year and the fourth in March alone.

Another horse, Stolen Lives, was injured in Sunday night’s race and later died after fishing in last place, according to the racing board. His death came one day after that of three-year-old filly Fastidious due to a fatal injury before the wire in Saturday night’s race.

Eleven horses died from racing or training injuries at Los Alamitos in 2021. The track was placed on probation by the racing board in July 2020 due to another string of horse deaths. At that time, at least 20 horses died at the track from racing or training injuries.

Los Alamitos officials did not reply to a request for comment about any of the deaths.
