Boomer’s post on X (formerly known as Twitter) went viral on Sunday when he noted that the Jets shouldn’t have had one second on the clock to kick the game-tying field goal in the fourth quarter, because the center spotted the ball himself after the deep completion to Allen Lazard, giving the Jets just enough time to spike the ball before time ran out.
On Monday, Boomer elaborated on his observation, and called out the NFL for a play that should have never been allowed.
“The center is now spotting the ball at the end of games, because the NFL is making this crap up as they go along. That should never happen that way,” Boomer said. “The official comes screaming in and swipes the ball, and that’s spotting the ball. If it’s fourth down, what happens at that point?”
Boomer credited Xavier Newman for rushing to the line and spotting the ball himself, but he says it shouldn’t have been allowed by the officiating crew.
“I personally thought the game should have ended right there and the Giants should have won,” Boomer said. “If this is the way these games are gonna go down at the end, and this is OK…then what?
“I’m just telling you, the NFL is making this up as they go along. This is crap. The official needs to spot the ball.”
