Steelers defensive captain Cam Heyward is sticking around,
LIVE: Reaction to Heyward extension
According to multiple sources, the Steelers have signed the defensive end to a new three-year deal.
Heyward confirmed the signing in this post:
It’s worth $45 million with $29 in “new money” and $16 million guaranteed.
ESPN’s Jeremey Fowler reports his signing bonus is “nearly $15 million.”
The deal will extent Heyward through 2026, almost guaranteeing he retires in black and gold.
Heyward will make a little less in his new deal compared to his old one.
The 35-year-old was taken by the Steelers 31st overall in the first-round of the 2011 draft and is entering his 14th year in the NFL.
Heyward is only being teammate T.J. Watt for the most sacks in franchise history.
He is currently tied with James Harrison with 80.5 sacks.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
