While outside observers are generally split on Matthew Stafford, he's almost always had the respect of his peers.

They watch him play, teammates and opponents alike, and see his talent, his toughness and his poise under pressure. There's a reason they've voted him five times to the NFL Top 100, including No. 31 in 2017 and 2018.

Strangely, Stafford hasn't cracked the list since. But ask around the league: this guy remains one of the most impressive quarterbacks in football.

The latest endorsement comes from Chiefs All-Pro safety Tryann Mathieu, who was apparently watching some film of Stafford Monday night, perhaps his game-winning drive against the Falcons in Week 7, when he took to Twitter to show some respect:

Mathieu has faced Stafford five times in his career, the first four with the Cardinals. The last two matchups have seen Stafford at his best.

He threw for 292 yards, four touchdowns and one pick in a season-opening win over Arizona in 2017, then 291 yards, three touchdowns and no picks in a Week 4 loss to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs last season.

And he picked up another fan in the process.
