Cornerback Cam Sutton made about $23 million with the Steelers in his first six seasons in the NFL. His second contract with the team was worth $3.5 million guaranteed. In the grand scheme of NFL salaries, not a whole lot.

When he entered free agency last week as one of the top cornerbacks on the market, this was Sutton's chance to really cash in. His agent, per NBC Sports, was aiming for a contract worth around $10 million per year.

Shortly after the negotiating window opened last Monday, Brad Holmes and the Lions called with $11 million per year, for three years. Immediately, Sutton's agent called him with the details, including $22.5 million guaranteed.

Sutton apparently couldn't believe it.

“Really?” he replied. And then, according to his agent, Sutton "just started crying."

"He told me, ‘This changes my life. Let’s go to Detroit, baby!’”

So that's where they went, and that's where Sutton is ready to help put the Lions on the map.
