Cowboys' Jerry Jones: No truth to Micah Parsons' trade report

The Dallas Cowboys have no interest in moving All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones made that very clear when asked Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan about what his son, Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones, said to NFL insider Ian Rapoport about Micah Parsons, which led to NFL.com reporting that the star pass rusher could be on the trading block this offseason.

"He did not in any way say that Micah Parsons was an issue looking ahead at the future," Jones said on Shan & RJ. "That's never been uttered in this organization that we don't have a future with Micah Parsons."

Stephen Jones clarified the comments he made to Rapoport at the NFL's league meetings when he joined the K&C Masterpiece on Monday's show.

“We see Micah as a Cowboy for long-term. … We’ve said all along our goal was to sign all three (Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Parsons), and that’s still our goal.”

Over the weekend, Rapoport published an article with quotes from Stephen Jones discussing how the team would evaluate how it builds its roster around top-of-the-market players this offseason.

In that conversation, Jones said they were "totally all in on Dak (Prescott) and CeeDee (Lamb), but after that, then you still shape things, including Micah (Parsons).

"Micah's a great player. You don't do well in this league letting guys like Micah, usually, leave the house," Jones continued.

Rapoport followed up by asking Jones if Dallas would consider trading the All-Pro pass rusher and Characterized Jones' response as not exactly "a no."

"We love Micah," Jones said. "I can't imagine there's a scenario where he's not wearing a star on his helmet."

Following the the Cowboys win against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Parsons was asked to comment on the report that Dallas hadn't ruled out trading him before he enters the final year of his rookie deal in 2025.

"I understand how that business side goes. There are no hard feelings in this business, whether I'm here or anywhere else. Obviously I've stated that I want to be here. But at the end of the day, I understand the business side, Parsons said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic.

"I've put in a lot of work, I've played hard too, so obviously if sides can't agree to those type of things, it happens like that. But I'm just happy to be here. I'm just gonna keep playing hard while I'm here. If I'm here for the next 5-6 years, I'm gonna keep playing hard then too. Ain't nothing really gonna make a difference, Micah is gonna play hard."
