Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - It was a bit of a scary situation for another Buffalo Bills player during their "Sunday Night Football" showdown with the New York Giants at Highmark Stadium.

With 3:32 left to go in the second quarter and facing a 3rd-and-inches, the Bills turned to the ground game with running back Damien Harris to gain a first down. While Harris did the job by gaining a full yard, the veteran running back remained down on the ground for several moments.

Eventually, the medical staff on the field called for the ambulance to take Harris off the field and to Erie County Medical Center. As the 26-year-old was being loaded into the back of the ambulance, Harris was seen giving a thumbs up not just to his teammates, but also the crowd in attendance.

The Bills were pretty quick to rule Harris out of the game with a neck injury. However, they did say Harris had movement in his arms and legs, as he was off to the hospital for further testing.

Harris is in his first season with the Bills, having played in all six games to this point of the 2023 campaign. Heading into Sunday night's game, he accounted for 93 yards on 22 carries and a score.

Sunday night's injury to Harris certainly may give the Bills and many fans flashbacks to Week 17 last season when safety Damar Hamlin was taken off the field in an ambulance after going into cardiac arrest shortly after making a routine tackle.

Luckily, Hamlin was able to return to football this season, as he managed to play in Week 4, primarily as a special teamer, against the Miami Dolphins in Orchard Park.

Last season also saw Bills cornerback Dane Jackson being taken off the field in an ambulance in a "Monday Night Football" matchup with the Tennessee Titans in Week 2.

The Bills were trailing, 6-0, at the point Harris exited the game. They did, however, rally with 14 fourth quarter points to down the Giants, 14-9, to improve to 4-2 on the season.
