Former All-Pro cornerback Aqib Talib spent two seasons as teammates with Jared Goff, including in 2018 when Goff helped lead the Rams to a 13-3 record and a berth in the Super Bowl. Talib has been a fan of Goff ever since.
With Goff at the helm of another Super Bowl contender in Detroit, Talib is anything but surprised.
"Just performance after performance," Talib said during an interview Monday on the Up and Adams Show.
If not for Josh Allen, Goff might be the frontrunner for MVP. He's having the best season of his career as it is, second in the NFL in passer rating (109.1) and the captain of the most explosive offense in the game. He doesn't make as many highlight reels as quarterbacks like Allen and Lamar Jackson, but Goff is the most valuable player on the NFL's most dominant team.
"JG just a quiet guy, man," said Talib. "He don’t do a bunch of Instagram ranting, a bunch of interviews. He just goes out and he handles business, over and over again. Winning is a skill, and everywhere he go, that’s what he do, man."
The Lions lead the NFL in points per game, with a top-five offense in both passing and rushing. They've won 11 in a row as they aim for the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Talib, a five-time Pro Bowler who won the Super Bowl with the 2015 Broncos, said, "I Iove what they got going in Detroit."
"In the trenches, offense, defense. They'll be in the show. It’ll be them, Philly, Green Bay might creep up, but I love what Detroit is doing, I love what Jared Goff is doing, man, leading those guys, making throws. They can kill you with the run, they can kill you with the pass," he said.
