The Packers' first drive of the season went 83 yards in 12 plays and ended in a touchdown. The Lions' first drive of the season lost four yards in three plays and ended in a punt. It set the tone for the day in the Packers' 27-13 romp at Lambeau Field.

In a Week 1 showdown of two teams expected to battle for supremacy in the NFC North, Green Bay was superior in every way.

In the debut of offensive coordinator John Morton and a new-look offensive line, the Lions failed to score a touchdown until their final drive of the game. They averaged just 3.8 yards per play, their fewest since year one under Dan Campbell.

In the debut of defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard and the highly-anticipated return of Aidan Hutchinson, the Lions surrendered points on Green Bay's first three drives and failed to generate pressure on Jordan Love for most of the day.

The only positive was the run defense, but even that wore down by the end of the game.

Two plays in particular doomed the Lions. Facing third down in the red zone midway through the second quarter, Jared Goff was picked by safety Evan Williams on a play where new Packers star Micah Parsons beat Penei Sewell and hurried Goff's throw. And with the defense trying to give the offense a lift in the third half, Alex Anzalone dropped a potential pick that would have set the Lions up in Packers' territory with a chance to make it a one-score game.

In the bigger view, the Packers were the better team from start to finish.
