Comeback Cats: Lions rally to 31-26 win over Bears for best start since 1962

Nothing was going right for the Lions Sunday against the Bears.

Not for Jared Goff, who threw three interceptions for the first time since 2019; Not for a rushing game that had been turning heads across the league; And certainly not for the defense, who couldn't contain Justin Fields.

The Lions took a 14-10 lead into halftime, but Chicago scored on its first four possessions of the second half, eating up loads of clock along the way.

In his first game back after a three-week absence, Fields gashed the Lions on the ground with 104 yards and put Chicago in front with a 39-yard touchdown pass to DJ Moore just three plays after forcing a fumble on a kick return.

But then the Lions flipped a switch.

Trailing by 12, things were looking bleak until Detroit cut the deficit to 26-21 with under 3:00 to go in the game after flying 75 yards down the field in six plays, a drive capped off by a 32-yard touchdown pass to Jameson Williams.

The defense locked down on the next drive, forcing a quick three-and-out. Goff then methodically led a 73-yard drive that culminated with a one-yard David Montgomery run to take the lead over his former team.

Aidan Hutchinson put the icing on the cake with a strip of Fields, leading to a safety as the ball went out of the back of the end zone.

The comeback win pushes the Lions to 8-2 on the year, their best start to a season since 1962.
