Over nine years in Detroit, Taylor Decker has started 126 games for the Lions at left tackle. He's logged nearly 9,000 snaps, playoffs included. He's even caught a couple touchdowns.
His reward after another strong season is his first-ever trip to the Pro Bowl.
Decker has been selected to the Pro Bowl games this weekend in Orlando as an injury replacement for teammate Penei Sewell. Decker was originally voted the third alternate at offensive tackle.
It's a well-deserved honor for Decker, who's been one of the Lions' steadiest players at a premium position since he arrived as a Day 1 starter in 2016. That was two regimes ago. Drafted by Bob Quinn and Jim Caldwell, Decker is still doing his thing under Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell.
He was rewarded at the outset of this season with a three-year, $60 million extension that ties him to Detroit through 2027.
Sewell, who injured his knee in the Lions' playoff loss to the Commanders, is Detroit's second Pro Bowler to bow out of the event due to an injury, joining wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. St. Brown will be replaced by rookie Malik Nabers of the Giants.
