A dangerous offense just got deeper. The Lions traded up in the third round of the draft Friday night to take Arkansas wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa No. 70 overall.
To make the move, the Lions sent their third rounder (No. 102) and two third-rounders next year to the Jaguars and also got back a sixth-rounder this year (No. 182) and next year.
TeSlaa is a big-bodied slot receiver at 6'4, 215 who will give Jared Goff and the Lions another weapon in the passing game. He has strong hands, with zero drops in his college career, and the strength to make contested catches.
He caught 28 passes for 545 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games last season, then boosted his draft stock with a strong showing at the Senior Bowl. The Hudsonville, Mich. native grew up cheering for the Lions and said it's a dream come true to be drafted by his childhood team.
TeSlaa joins a receivers room in Detroit that already features All-Pro Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, who's fresh off his first 1,000-yard season. And he joins an offense that already ranked second in the NFL in passing and first in scoring last season.
TeSlaa visited with the Lions last week and said he "got such a good feel for the culture" after sitting down with Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes to talk life, talk ball."
"The Lions are good for a reason, they were able to turn this program around for a reason," he said. "So many incredible players, an incredible culture and obviously they’ve done an incredible job in the draft the last four years, so it’s exciting to be a part of that."
The Lions' extra third-rounder in 2026 they sent to the Jags was one of the two compensatory picks they were awarded for developing a minority head coach in Aaron Glenn. The other comp pick was the third-rounder they traded this year.
