It's only a matter of time before D'Andre Swift gets traded.

After drafting running back Jahmyr Gibbs 12th overall Thursday night, the Lions are working with Swift's agents to find him a new team, according to ESPN. Detroit has received trade calls on the former second-round pick and could pull the trigger on a deal as soon as Friday.

Swift's fate became pretty clear Thursday when Lions GM Brad Holmes wouldn't comment on the running back's future other than to say, "He's still under contract with us." Holmes said the addition of Gibbs "hasn’t really changed the math there, yet. But it is early."

As in, early in the draft. The Lions still have two days to trade Swift for capital they can use this weekend.

It's not a huge surprise that they're ready to cut Swift loose. He was drafted by the prior regime and has been hindered by injuries over his three seasons in Detroit. His inability to either stay on the field or contribute at less than 100 percent has left the coaching staff frustrated. Swift did average 5.5 yards per carry last season, but with a limited workload.

With Gibbs arriving in the draft and David Montgomery replacing Jamaal Williams in free agency, there will be a new rushing tandem this season in Detroit.
