The Tigers have yet to work out a long-term deal with Tarik Skubal. They have awarded the reigning Cy Young winner a handsome raise for 2025.

The two sides agreed to a one-year, $10.15 million deal Thursday before the MLB deadline for salary arbitration. It represents a $7.5 million pay bump for Skubal after he made $2.65 million last season when he won the American League pitching Triple Crown.

Skubal, who turned down a reported extension offer from the Tigers this offseason, is under team control for one more year. He's slated to become a free agent following the 2026 season, unless the Tigers can get him locked up before then.

Skubal is the eighth arbitration-eligible player the Tigers have reached deals with offseason, including five others on Thursday: reliever Jason Foley ($3.15 million), outfielder Matt Vierling ($3.005 million), catcher Jake Rogers ($2.64 million) starting pitcher Casey Mize ($2.34 million) and reliever Will Vest ($1.4 million).

The Tigers also came to terms in November with utility players Zach McKinstry ($1.65 million) and Andy Ibañez ($1.4 million).

Their only player still unsigned ahead of the arbitration deadline is reliever Beau Brieske.
