Former Patriots wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins finds himself in a mountain of debt along with jail time thanks to a scheme that stole money from a COVID-19 relief fund.
According to Boston.com, the Southern District Court of Florida has ordered Thompkins to pay $132,980 in stolen funds. The 33-year-old, who played with the Patriots during the 2013 and 2014 seasons, has already been sentenced to 25 months in prison followed by a year in supervised released.
According to the report, Thompkins pleaded guilty to one count of unauthorized access device fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft in a ploy that resulted in the former wideout garnering around $230,000 from Miami-area ATMs.

Thompkins stole the money while using stolen identities of Florida residents who were in line to be helped by the COVID Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.
Thompkins claim to fame with the Patriots was catching the game-winning pass from Tom Brady against the Saints during the Pats' 2013 Week 6 last-second win over the Saints. That season he caught 32 passes for 488 yards.
