The Jets offense once again failed to put the ball in the end zone in Sunday’s loss to the Raiders, settling for four field goals.
Gang Green seemed to be on its way to finding that elusive touchdown at the most opportune time, driving down the field late in the fourth quarter, only to have it spoiled by a Zach Wilson interception.
After the game, star wide receiver Garrett Wilson did not hide his frustration after another putrid offensive showing.
“I don’t know what you want me to say. I’m tired of this,” Wilson said. “I want to play better. The offense wants to play better…we talk about that every week, trying to come out every week and make it happen. It’s frustrating.”
Much of the blame has been placed on the lackluster quarterback play of Zach Wilson, but the Jets have also gotten next to nothing from their veterans on offense, as Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall have been the only ones to provide much production and playmaking ability this season.
Garrett is in just his second NFL season, but he says he may take on a leadership voice in the locker room to try and rally the offense to better results.
“We’re trying to figure it out. I can see something like that going down soon, because it has to,” Garrett said. “I might take it upon myself, but I know we have some guys in the locker room whose words hold a lot of weight. We’ll see what it’s like going back to New York, what we talk about. We gotta figure this out.”
