The Yung Joka era appears to be over in East Rutherford.
As first reported by Jordan Schultz of The Score and confirmed by several others, the Giants are dealing wide receiver Kadarius Toney to the Kansas City Chiefs for two 2023 Draft picks, a conditional third-rounder and a sixth-rounder.
"Thought it was best for the team," Giants head coach Brian Daboll said in his media session Thursday after news of the deal broke. "I wish Kadarius well."
Toney, who was selected No. 20 overall in 2021 after the Giants traded down, is seen as a dynamic player but has had trouble staying healthy, and his tenure has been littered with injury and internal issues since the very beginning, when he ended up practicing shoeless at one of the Giants’ early camps in 2021.
So far in his NFL career, Toney has played in just 12 of a possible 24 games, with 41 catches for 420 yards and five rushes for 29 yards and one touchdown.
Toney hasn’t played since Week 2 this season because of hamstring issues, and in the two games he did play, he saw just 35 snaps and four touches, accumulating 23 yards and a score on two rushes and zero net yards on two catches (on three targets).
