Jim Harbaugh said he "didn't know anything" about the alleged computer crimes committed by former Michigan offensive coordinator Matt Weiss until after Weiss had coached his final game with the program in the semifinals of the 2022 College Football Playoff.

Weiss, who was on Harbaugh's staff from 2021-22, was indicted this month on 24 federal charges of hacking into databases at more than 100 universities across the country to download "personal, intimate, digital photographs and videos" of female student-athletes.

"Just shocked," Harbaugh told reporters Monday at the NFL owners meetings. "Completely shocked. Disturbed."

Weiss, 42, is alleged to have committed these crimes from 2015-23, during which time he also spent six years coaching under John Harbaugh with the Ravens.

Asked why Weiss was permitted to coach for Michigan in its loss to TCU in the 2022 College Football Playoff, Jim Harbaugh said, "I did not know anything until after. It was after the TCU game that I found out, we found out, that there were allegations.

"And you said it, I mean, indictment, that's not a word that -- sympathy for the victims and for Matt's family. It’s shocking.”

Weiss, who has a son and two daughters with his wife, pleaded not guilty to all charges during a hearing last week in Detroit's federal court.
