The Lions are off to their best start to a season since a 5-0 start in 2011 after their 42-17 rout of the Panthers on Sunday at Ford Field.

Detroit turned in an all-around performance, fueled by Jared Goff’s 246 yards and three touchdowns on 20-of-28 passing and David Montgomery’s 109 yards and a score.

Goff added a touchdown on the ground, while Craig Reynolds found the end zone and posted 48 yards in relief of Montgomery, filling in for rookie Jahmyr Gibbs, who missed the game with a hamstring injury.

The Lions’ defense showed up in a big way with three takeaways – interceptions by Aidan Hutchinson and Jerry Jacobs, as well as a Will Harris fumble recovery, all in the first half.

While the Lions racked up 12 sacks over the last two games, they didn’t manage to bring down rookie Bryce Young on Sunday, despite hitting him six times.

The Lions will head back out on the road next Sunday, taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are coming off a bye week. The NFL announced last week the game has been flexed to 4:25 p.m.
