MLB ace is fed up with current internet issues like the rest of us

One of the many benefits of Twitter is to remind us "normal" humans that athletes, the guys who we watch on our screens and worship through jerseys, cards and other collectibles, are humans just like us. Another benefit is to express our frustrations and build support for those feelings through likes and retweets.

And on Monday evening, we saw a fun little example of both. White Sox ace Lucas Giolito, who built off his breakout 2019 All-Star campaign with a strong short-season effort in 2020 (4-3, 3.48 ERA, 12.1 K/9), was nearly perfect in his August 25th masterpiece. He twirled nine innings of 13-strikeout baseball, surrendering only one walk, in what was the peak moment of his season.

But not everything is perfect for Giolito — or near-perfect — and that includes his internet. He unleashed his frustration on Twitter while experiencing the same issues that many people, including me (right now), are having to deal with.

In the grand scheme of things, internet issues are at or near the very bottom of the list of problems that need attention. But sometimes, using Twitter as a little bit of scapegoat can help, and based on the hilarious comments and retweets of empathetic fans who feel just the same way, no one is mad at Giolito for his little outburst.

According to Wall Street Journal, several Google services went down globally for periods of time on Monday, including YouTube, G-Mail and more, indicating this may not only be an Xfinity and Comcast problem.

So that's the 2020 equivalent of a snow day, huh? What happens on Wednesday, then, when the massive and potentially historic Winter Storm Gail comes down on New York, Philadelphia and many more cities in the Northeast, potentially disrupting the shipments of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines?

2020 just keeps rolling along.
