Tensions were so high Thursday night at Ford Field that Matt LaFleur got into it with a fan on the field prior to kickoff.
TV cameras captured the Packers head coach getting in the face of a Lions fan wearing a Brian Branch jersey who was serving as one of the flag holders for the national anthem.
LaFleur said the fan was "talking junk to our players and giving them the throat slash sign."
"You’re trying to de-escalate it and then he gets in my face. I thought it was pretty unsportsmanlike. I’ve never seen that, I’ve been on many fields, and usually they police that much better. I thought it was an arrogant fan that wanted to get a part of the action," said LaFleur. "I would like to see security or something step in there and get them out of there. He shouldn’t be doing that.”
The loss dropped LaFleur to 2-6 against Dan Campbell's Lions.
