The balls were flying out of Comerica Park Wednesday as the Tigers and Braves combined for 11 home runs in a straight doubleheader that was swept by Atlanta.
After snapping a nine-game losing streak Monday, Tuesday's game was rained out, leading to a traditional doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. The Braves took the first 10-7, and held on for a 6-5 win to take the series in the second.
The slugfest began with a Spencer Torkelson solo shot in the first inning of the opener, followed by Miguel Cabrera's first of the season the next inning. Eric Haase also homered in the second inning.
In total, Detroit had six of the day's 11 blasts – three in each game – including a Jake Rogers three-run shot that knotted Game 2 at 5-5 following a Matt Vierling solo shot. Andy Ibáñez also homered.
Atlanta's Ronald Acuna Jr. was the only player with two homers on Wednesday, one of which was a 461-foot moonshot to center field.
