Final Miggy Milestone? Cabrera passes Beltre on all-time hits list

Miguel Cabrera ripped a single into center field in the Tigers' 3-2 loss to the Dodgers Tuesday night for hit No. 3,167 of his career, passing his pal Adrian Beltre for 17th most in MLB history.

It might have been the final Miggy Milestone we see.

Cabrera is all but certain to finish where he is on the hits list. He's 17 shy of the next player in front of him, Cal Ripken Jr., with 11 games remaining in the Tigers' season. Hey: 17th all time is nothing to be ashamed of.

There are two milestones still within Miggy's reach. He's one home run shy of tying Mel Ott for 25th all time; Cabrera has 510 to his name, but just three this season. And he's one double shy of tying Hank Aaron for 13th all time; he has 623 to his name, but just 16 this season.

Cabrera, by the way, is the only active player near the top of these charts. The next closest in hits (Joey Votto) is outside the top 200, the next closest in RBI (Nelson Cruz) is outside the top 100, the next closest in doubles (Freddie Freeman) is outside the top 80 and the next closest in home runs (Cruz) is outside the top 30.

The Tigers have five more games out West on their current road trip, before coming home for the final six games of Cabrera's career.
