With Jahmyr Gibbs sitting out a second straight game due to injury, the Lions were already a little short on running back depth heading into Sunday’s game at Tampa Bay.
But when starter David Montgomery left the game midway through the second quarter with an injury, things got even thinner.
Just a few plays later, however, his replacement, Craig Reynolds came up in a big way.
Reynolds laid down a huge block on a 3rd & 13 that opened a lane for Amon-Ra St. Brown to streak down the sideline and into the end zone after cutting across the field short of the first down.
The Lions called Reynolds a “certified people mover” on X (formerly Twitter).
The score put the Lions (4-1) ahead of the Bucs (3-1) 10-3, the score they took into the halftime break.
Shortly before halftime, Montgomery was listed as questionable to return with an injury to his ribs and he was downgraded to out midway through the third quarter.
