Jay Williams tweeted a trade proposal that has Sixers fans scratching their heads.
Williams suggested that the Golden State Warriors should considering offering Andrew Wiggins and the No. 2 overall pick to the 76ers for All-Star center Joel Embiid.
Now, maybe Williams understands that the Warriors would almost certainly have to offer more in a package for Embiid, but @HoopsReference isn't so sure.
Wiggins, 25, has mostly underachieved so far in his NBA career after being the No. 1 overall pick in 2014 (same draft as Embiid) out of Kansas (same school as Embiid).
Wiggins—who is set to make 29.5, 31.6, and 33.6 million dollars in the next three respective seasons—was traded to Golden State in February. For his career, Wiggins is averaging 19.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 33.2-percent from three.
Many believe the Warriors are in position to move the No. 2 overall pick in hopes of immediately competing for a title again with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson back from injury.
As for the Sixers, it seems unlikely new head Doc Rivers would be fond of trading his most talented and impactful player before he even gets a chance to coach him. The Sixers roster is flawed and has a ton of money tied up in Al Horford and Tobias Harris, but the upside of the team continues to fall on the growth and ascension of Embiid and Ben Simmons.
